WEST MICHIGAN LUTHERAN HIGH SCHOOL’S MISSION IS TO NURTURE AND PREPARE ITS STUDENTS FOR CHRIST-CENTERED LIVES.
Implementation of this Mission
BASED UPON AND DRIVEN BY THE PRINCIPLES AND DOCTRINE OF THE LUTHERAN CHURCH-MISSOURI SYNOD, WEST MICHIGAN LUTHERAN HIGH SCHOOL PROVIDES CLASSES, PROGRAMS, AND ACTIVITIES THAT HELP ENCOURAGE AND CULTIVATE THE SPIRITUAL, ACADEMIC, ARTISTIC, SOCIAL, AND PHYSICAL GROWTH OF EACH STUDENT.
Purposes and Objectives
West Michigan Lutheran is a recognized service organization of The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod with which it is affiliated. The curriculum is essentially a liberal arts program supplemented by introductory professional education, applied arts, and applied science courses designed primarily for college preparation. As such, it strives to meet the needs of young men and women seeking an education with a distinctive Christian orientation. The program is designed to assist the individual student in achieving academic competence, spiritual maturity, and social development. Specifically designed programs are planned to meet the educational needs of those desiring to continue their education on the college level, to move into the world of business, and those who desire to enter one of the Church’s ministries.
The institutional aim is to provide an education with a distinctive Lutheran orientation in an environment designed to meet the academic, physical, social, and spiritual needs of qualified students. Through general or specialized programs, the school fulfills its mission of enabling students to continue the development of their personalities for effective service to their Lord and mankind.
Through its total program, West Michigan Lutheran High strives to have students become persons who:
1. Mature in Christian faith and life;
2. Acquire knowledge in major areas of human learning;
3. Understand and appreciate their cultural heritage;
4. Communicate purposefully and effectively;
5. Employ effective work habits and mental skills;
6. Display intelligent and responsible citizenship;
7. Value health and physical fitness;
8. Use leisure time in a God-pleasing manner;
9. Participate in vocationally related experiences
